Docs engineer & technical writer

Developer docs for dev-tool & SaaS teams. Delivered on a monthly retainer.

I write and maintain the quickstarts, guides, and SDK and API docs your developers rely on. An AI-accelerated, docs-as-code workflow lets me ship quickly without dropping quality, for one fixed monthly price.

Andre Selton, Kinde

Trusted by

Auth and identity platform for developers. I work there as a contract docs engineer.

“I’ve managed Tamal at Kinde since late 2025. He’s run documentation through our biggest launches: MCP Servers, Passkeys, WhatsApp auth. He pushed to get the TanStack and Golang SDK docs shipped faster than planned, and tightened the style guide across the whole doc set while he was at it. When Testing turned into one of our most requested customer asks, he built that section from scratch. Same story with migrations, which now cover multiple providers. He works with engineering and support to keep it all accurate, and needs almost nothing from me to do it. The output is strong. The ownership is what stood out. Tamal treats our docs like his own product and finds the gaps before anyone flags them.”

How I work

Docs-as-code

I work in your repo with Markdown/MDX and pull requests, on Docusaurus, Mintlify, Next.js, or whatever stack you already use.

AI-assisted, human-owned

AI speeds up research, drafting, and consistency passes. I test, verify, and edit every page before it ships.

Quality checks

Automated checks, including Vale style linting, link checking, and code-sample review, catch problems before your users do.

Fast turnaround

A prioritized backlog, async updates, and quick delivery on release-critical docs.

FAQ

Why a retainer instead of hourly?

You pay for outcomes, not time. Your budget stays predictable, and when AI makes me faster, you get more done instead of a smaller invoice that also means less output.

What does a month include?

We agree on a scoped set of deliverables and a turnaround time for each package. Anything outside that scope gets quoted separately before I start.

Can I start small?

Yes. Most clients start with a short fixed-price pilot, then move to a monthly package.

Do you use AI to write the docs?

AI is part of my workflow for research, drafts, and consistency. Every page is tested, fact-checked, and edited by me before it ships.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Retainers are month-to-month, and you can cancel anytime with 30 days’ written notice. There’s no long-term lock-in.
